Web Design A Rocky Web Home Page

Structure for your site can be very important, especially for large sites. Similar information and content need to grouped into a logical hierarchy of categories and sub-categories so that site visitors will be able to find what they want easily and quickly.

You then have to plan a navigation system to get around these areas. You might want to have buttons or links on every page to your main categories so they are always accessible. From within each category you can have buttons or links to its own sub-categories, etc. You may also use an image map which has clickable regions for your links. Or you could have animated mouse-over effects for your buttons. You can have a menu bar in a seperate pop-up window that you switch to for navigating with content always appearing in the main window.

Planning site structure & navigation on paper (storyboarding) is a good way to plan how to organize and access it's content.
