Surfing the Web is the best way for you to see what is possible with web site design. Along the way you will see amazing sites that are well-organized, fun, useful, & look great and you will also see some horrendous sites that are just the opposite. Often this is just a matter of taste, to each their own.

Along the way you should make note of the URLs (addresses) of the sites you really like and the sites you just couldn't stand. This will give your designer (or even yourself) a much better idea of the type of design you would be happy with, or not.

In addition to random surfing you should search for sites similar to the one you are planning. This holds true whether you are planning a business, entertainment, or research site. It will give you an idea of the level of quality of similar sites and also help you to avoid duplication in your design.
