Web Design A Rocky Web Home Page

Most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) provide free web space with your monthly dial-up access account. Of the ones who do most can also host a virtual domain. Some exceptions include: No web space - Sprint / No virtual domains - Shaw, Sympatico

Sometimes you might have a seperate access provider and host for your site such as using Shaw@Home for fast internet access and a different server as host because you want a virtual domain. When choosing a host it is important to decide what you need:

  • virtual domain?
  • amount of storage space, will the site be really large?
  • amount of traffic, will the site be really busy?
  • extras such as cgi scripts for forms, guestbooks, etc.
  • multiple e-mail addresses
  • e-commerce, secure server, Cold Fusion for databases, ?

Now you will want to decide whether to tackle building this project yourself or to hire a Web Designer ...
