Beat Farmers
Hubba, Hubba, Hubba
The Beat Farmers were: Country Dick Montana(Dan McLain - 5/11/55
- 11/08/95) - drums, vocals, guitar, accordion, swilling; Rolle Love(Dexter)
- beating up on a bass; Jerry Raney - killer guitar, vocals, harmonica,
drums; Joey Harris(from The Pursuit of Happiness to Manifold & background
vocals on earlier albums) - haunting guitar, vocals, drums, rude duets with
Dick; Buddy Blue(from Tales of the New West to Van Go) - bluesy
and other guitars, vocals.
The BF family also included Paul Kamanski, Mojo Nixon, Zippy the Pinhead
and many, many guests. It also included every wacky fan trying to be the
King of the Hillbilly Showdown(or so I overheard a couple of guys that looked
like the Hatfields or McCoys saying). I also heard that the Farmers called
their fans "Loogans"(spelling?) which stands for losers and hooligans,
sounds about right. I called the fans(me too) "Dickheads", whose
loyalty rivals that of those other famous "...heads". It doesn't
matter what you call us, just that we would have seen them again and again.
They were such a great time. So fuck it, raise your middle fingers in salute
because
Country Dick would have told you that
"this means We Love You, you maggots".

- I have all of the above albums except
the Gutterball tape which a friend has(signed Cheers, C. Dick). I was looking
at the Official
Beat Farmers Site and I saw that
a Greatest Hits album was released in 1995 without the BF knowledge. From
the songs listed, don't bother. Buy all their albums instead. If you want
an assorted album that gives you an idea of the variety of sounds they
did on different albums get Loud
and Plowed and... LIVE!! . Apparently
it was released without the BF permission or knowledge either, but I am
glad this one was released because of its variety and the fact it IS live
makes it their best album.
